Kai's Baptism

We weren't as dilligent about taking pictures for Kai's baptism as we had planned. I got talking to Jen before the service and didn't realize we were 20 minutes late. Fortunately we barely made it in time. After it was all over we went back to our house for a dinner with the family. Kai was baptised along with 2 other kids and they all had to sit on the stand during church today. Allan happened to look over while he was sitting up there and caught Kai playing with a bunch of toys he was able to sneak past the 'guards'. He decided that it would have attracted more attention if had done something about it.

Memorial Day

We made our way up to my uncle's property in Lindon for the annual Memorial Day gathering. The kids always enjoy themselves and it gives me a chance to visit with family who I don't see very often. Allan wanted some exercise so he decided to ride his bike up there. He made the 60 mile trip in about 3 1/2 hours and ended up with a little bit of sunburn on the back of his legs and arms.

Cub Scout Night

Kai earned his Bobcat last week at pack night. The really interesting part is to see if I will be able to sew to patch on or I might end up buying one of those plastic things that holds all of the badges.
After the awards, the had an activity outside that all of the kids enjoyed.

End of the school year awards

Taylor got several wards, one of which is for "Outstanding Academic Achievement".
Kalea got an award for citizenship. I'm not sure how you get this unless you never get in trouble at school for behavioral problems or somthing like that. Kalea is the Enforcer when it comes to following the rules.

Kai's award was obviously for Math. Again, I'm not sure what qualifies someone to get these awards, but they all got something.

We finally remembered to bring our stupid camera

We finally remembered to bring out camera to something.

One of the counselors I work with owns about a half dozen horses and invited us to come over so the kids can ride them. She enjoys having people come over and play with them and the kids had a blast riding them. Kalea was a little intimidated, but soon warmed up to them. She said it was the first time she had ever ridden one. However I reminded her of a time we went riding up at Payson Lakes several years ago and even had the pictures to prove it. Keanu didn't seem to be scared but the poor kid had horrible allergies while riding. Both eyes were red and puffy when he finally got off.

At work we had actually done a therapy group out there a couple of months ago with some of our younger aged kids and were surprised at how the kids responded. I had co facilitated a couple of equine therapy groups during an internship and saw it as a valuable tool to use, provided someone had access to them.

Kalea's Field Trip

Kalea took a field trip to "This is the Place" monument up by Hogle Zoo the other day. It was part of the school curriculum about Utah history. I was able to tag along and chaperone. The trip was actually a ton of fun and I learned a lot. While traveling up there some of the kids brought along some cards and asked if I wanted to play. The kids were playing a modified version of poker and some other games. I asked if they wanted to play this really cool game called "21". I was impressed, they caught on quite fast. They caught on so fast that the game grew from 2 kids to 10 kids who wanted to be dealt in. As we got playing I began to feel guilty that maybe I shouldn't be teaching a bunch of kids a game commonly associated with gambling. But I figured that since they brought the cards and asked me if I wanted to play poker, than maybe I was okay. I did get a few side way glances from the other adults, and I was unsure if it was one of disapproval or mild annoyance. Either way I thought the picture was funny when I realized how it looks. Plus the battery ran out on the camera and it was only one of a handful that we were able to take...

It's Official...

We had the baby ultrasound today and we received the official word that it's a Girl! The due date is still sometime around the middle of August.
