Let's G-O, go
Every morning when the kids are getting ready to go to school Keanu will ask Cynthia to hurry and get his pants and shoes on so he can go with them. They had to stop saying "Let's go" because Keanu caught on to what they meant and wanted to go with them. After a while they started spelling "go" hoping that he wouldn't know what they were talking about. It didn't take long before he learned what they were talking about and now he says, "Mom, let's g-o, go." Kalea came up with the bright idea to start saying "skedaddle" but that might be a little hard to start spelling out.

Cedar City Trip
Cynthia and the kids decided to take a trip back down to Cedar City so they could see all of their old friends. They left Friday after school and came back Sunday. Kai was so exhausted he fell asleep in church. Cynthia overheard Taylor telling one of her friends that she wished we had never moved. I am hoping that by being closer to family it will help fill some of that void. We found out one of our friends is getting Sealed in October and we plan on going back down for that.

Tour of Utah Race in Salt Lake City
We decided to go up to Salt Lake Friday night to watch the criterium stage of Tour of Utah. We were a little worried what the traffic and parking were going to be like so we decided to park in Sandy and take Trax up. We were able to get with in a block of the race. We had a pretty good view of the start and finish line and everybody seemed suprised at how fast they were going. The first stage started on Wednesday in Nephi and that seemed to make the kids even more excited about going up. There was a guy standing next to us and that kept talking to the girls and explaining what was going on and they were asking him questions as well. After the race, the kids were trying to find free stuff with Kai ending up getting a dirty water bottle with the Team Discovery channel logo on it. I think the kids had a blast. Cynthia was a little sad to see a guy from Argentina win this stage. On the way home Kai wanted to bet me a buck that he could stay awake the whole way home, only to lose before we even got on the freeway. As tired as I was from finishing up my last week of work, it was a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be. (The picture above is of 4 riders from the Garmin-Chipotle Team which happens to be Kalea's favorite team. She wore a sweater that has their same logo on it and asks questions about them all of the time.)

Favorite Blog
Cynthia and I don't usually agree on much when it comes to the finer points of religion...until now. She tends to be a little bit more conservative than me on many principles. As Kalea so eloquently put it one day. "Mom, Dad you guys are like a piece of string. Mom is like the piece of string that's pulled really tight and Dad is like the string that is really loose".
One of Cynthia's worst childhood memories is anything to do with camping or just being outside in the dirt. She absolutely abhors it. The only way I have been able to talk her into buying camping equipment is to say that it is for emergency preparedness and ranks right up there with the necessity of food storage.
My favorite column to read is by Robert Kirby in the Salt Lake Tribune. I even met him once as a missionary when his bishop suggested that we "go convert him". Recently he was "ordered" by his editor to attend a Pioneer Trek this past week and then to write about it. Not only did he write a column he also kept a little running blog about his adventure. As Cynthia and I were reading it she rolled her eyes and they did that little flutter she does when she becomes especially annoyed. You see, we're not exactly big fans of these treks. She said, "I don't have to experience it to know that it was hard". "I don't know why they have to do it". I on the other hand actually experienced it or at least 22 miles of it anyway. All I remember was to not drink the water and "bucks to the left, does to the right". Oh yea, we also got lost and drank hot water flavored with beef bullion cubes.
I love camping, but pushing a a rickety wooden contraption around JW Marriott's cow pie infested ranch was an experience for someone else. Ditto on girl's camp, I've been there too.
