Close Call

One of my biggest worries about living so close to the freeway was a reality soon after we moved in. One night I came home to find a lot of flashing lights coming from our house. When I pulled into the driveway I could see the lights were actually behind the house. When I walked in the backyard I realized a semi had made it's way to our back fence. Cynthia who was home didn't realize anything happened until I walked in and told her about it. We were so shocked that we took several pictures just to make sure we were seeing what we thought we were seeing. We also knew the kids wouldn't believe us with out the pictures. Apparently the driver was headed north and some how managed to cut through both lanes, the median and the 2 south bound lanes before it ended up in our backyard. Fortunately, there is a 6' deep trench that runs the length of the property for such an occassion. We were later told by UHP that the driver was drunk. At least now I know that a semi going freeway speed isn't going to end up in our yard

Keanu

We were watching Return of the Jedi the other night and Keanu dug this out of the toy box. If you look at his right foot you will notice there is no sock. For some reason he doesn't like to wear anything on that foot which means we spend time trying to find 1/2 of his socks and shoes.

Memorial Day Weekend

This is a picture of Kalea, Keanu and Taylor that tuned out really nice. Every now and then we take that picture that turns out well.

On Memorial Day we drove to Lindon where Cynthia's uncle owns a 6 acre ranch. A few years ago he decided to turn it into a place where his grandkids could run around, have fun and be safe. It has a life size castle with a dungeon and courtyard. There is a pavilion, swings, basketball court and a 2 level cottage. Unfortunately the day was cold and rainy so it made it not as fun as it has been in the past. It was a little odd to have on heavy coats on the unofficial first day of summer. In spite of everything I think the kids enjoyed themselves.

On the way home the kids wanted to stop by and see my office. I showed them where I run my groups and some of the toys I get to use during my sessions. The first thing Keanu noticed was my jar of candy which he promptly stuck his hand in and grabed a bunch. After we left I asked them if they now understood what I do at work. Taylor said, "Yea, you go to a lot of meetings and talk to people all day". In a nutshell I guess that is what I do every day.

We then picked up some strawberry and rasberry plants for our garden.

Kalea

This is Kalea during an outing up Cedar Mountain last fall before we moved. She will be 16 I mean 10 years old this Fall. If Kalea isn't getting 110% on tests and quizzes then she isn't working hard enough. To Kalea working hard and being good isn't enough for her; she wants to be the best.

Since we finished the basement, I think Kalea would have prefered her own room however she seems to be handling it well enough.
